Scientists have discovered 305 bodies and 32 skeletons of whales through aerial and satellite photography in the remote Aysen area, between the Gulf of Penas and Puerto Natales. Exactly what caused the whales to die is not yet known, but scientists who have been investigating the graveyard have ruled out human intervention – and suggested they didn’t all die after getting stranded on the beaches of Chile’s fjords.
